Katti Batti will see a grand release on the 18th of September, 2015. A conversation with Imran Khan shed more light on the film and a sneak peak on his personal side as well. The interview is divided into two parts. In this part Imran sheds light on the role he played in the film, the much touted 24 hour long kiss with co-star Kangana Ranaut and his onscreen chemistry with the actress.
the other part talks about his personal journey and his roots. It also gives a little sneak peak into the star's personality, family and views about life in general.
How would you describe your character 'Maddy' in Katti Batti? Maddy is a guy who really is defined by his love for Payal. He feels that the reason he is born is because he has to love this woman. The whole purpose of his existence is to be with Payal. I found this to very interesting and compelling. It's a very sweet and wonderful thought. The idea that love is the driving force in his life is something that I like about him.
Every movie presents its own challenges and becomes a learning experience, what did you learn from Katti Batti? Did you take anything home? It wasn't something new that I picked up but it reiterated something I had known all my life and that is you should be very happy and personally satisfied with the work you are doing. Without that, there is no chance for success.
Katti Batti will be my twelfth film. I have worked on films where I have been very happy and had enjoyed the process and vice versa.

TOIEntertainAre you saying that you tend to take your character back home and live it in reality? No, not at all. I have a very clear understanding between real life and acting. They are two entirely separate things. If you can't tell the difference you perhaps need a little bit of psychological help. For me real life is disconnected. I am talking about the experience of working with talented people, who you like and respect. Doing work that you are proud of and happy with. If you wake up in the morning and you leave for work that you genuinely feel is not good- You are wasting your life and time. That's what I don't want to do.
Gori Tere Pyaar Mein is a great example. The film has been the biggest failure that I've had in my career to date, but I had the best time of my life filming it. Puneet(Malhotra) is a very dear friend,
Kareena(Kapoor) is someone I have respected as an actress for more than a decade. I really enjoy working with her. Everyday on the sets of that film I had a smile on my face. The fact the film failed is surely upsetting but I do not consider that time wasted. I consider that I got to spend time with the people I like and respect.
During various media interactions Kangana mentioned that she would home and cry after the shoot because of the intensity of the film. Was the case same with you? Ah...no! As I said, I have a clear understanding between reality and the reel life, so that did not happen to me.
READ: ‘Katti Batti’ trailer: Heartbroken Imran Khan and heartbreaker Kangana Ranaut promise a lot of funLet us talk about the much touted about 24 hour kiss in the film. Because the song has been filmed in stop-motion, what hurdles did the both of you face during the filming of the shot? Was there any real kiss? Smirks...More than kissing, as you must be knowing stop motion photography goes frame by frame. So you're not actually... (wags his tongue... slurps) all of that is not happening. You just come close, your lips touch and you move away. It is extremely mechanical, extremely precise and technical because... It is not like you're kissing and getting lost in the moment. You have four people saying IMRAN...Chin up a little bit...Hold that..Don't move at all... It is very technical and very uncomfortable because you are holding your body at such an awkward position. We filmed it lying down on the ground, so to make that look like you are walking, you can't lie the way you normally walk. You have to balance on one edge, you cannot move your head, you have to hold your head above the ground while you do all this, by the time you stand up you have spend about an hour or two lying down for one shot. And when you finally stand, your neck feels locked, the back has spasmed so on and so forth, which is why one has to do yoga, stretching sessions so that the flexibility is maintained. I will never do it again. Even though it looks cool, it is very difficult.
